As a martial artist, Dr. Mayle is the Grandmaster (SIGUNG) of Yi Tsung Shao Lin Chaun Fa. However, over the past 56 + years, he has been fortunate enough to train with, as well as, become personal friends and colleagues with some of the most highly skilled and world famous Martial Arts Masters including Hanshi Richard Kim, Grandmaster Peter Urban, Grandmaster Rick Alemeny, Grandmaster A.P. Tamper, Master Leo Gahie, Grandmaster Mike Stone, Grandmaster Brendan Lai, Dr. Wu Chengde, Madam Wang Ju Rong, Grandmaster Yee Chong, Grandmaster Ed Parker, Shifu Bruce Lee, Grandmaster Kim Ill Ju, Shifu Jet Li, Shifu Jackie Chan, Dr. Glenn Morris, Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, Grandmaster Remy Presas, Grandmaster Dennis Bennett, Dr. Terry Free and many other highly skilled Masters.

With fifty-five years of martial arts training he has earned ranking from Sho-Dan to High Level Black Belts in several different disciplines. His dedication to become a well-rounded and highly skilled martial artist has earned him Five Triple-Crown World Championship Rings, as a member of the USA National Martial Arts Team, while competing in Australia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela and The Philippines.
Although, Dr. Mayle holds the rank and title of Grandmaster, he prefers to use his academic title. Dr. Harold L. Mayle has earned academic titles of D.Sc. (Med.) Ph.D. (pol.) Ph.D. (hap) The Military sciences of Polemikology, (the history, philosophy and techniques of unarmed combat in a battle field situation based on the perspective of the individual combatant,) Haplology (history, philosophy and techniques of armed combat in a battle field situation based on the perspective of the individual combatant as well as the field commander.) Both sciences include the history, philosophy, traditions and techniques of the oldest to the newest martial/military systems.
The academic curriculums, from the Degrees of Bachelor, Master, and Doctor of Philosophy in Polemikology and Haplology were, with the assistance for High Ranking Martial Artists, who were also academics with Doctoral Degrees from various Universities and in various disciplines, were written by Dr. Mayle and accepted as fully accredited College Programs. This body of work was what to lead to a “Special Doctoral Convocation” held at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
Although Dr. Mayle has retired as a Martial Arts Competitor, due to an accident resulting in serious permanent injuries, he is still dedicated to the WCOMA as the International Director. |
